Frank Zappa- Hot Rats

This is the second solo album by Mr. Zappa. It's quite good. Anyone who's into more artsy/psychedelic rock must check this out. This album also features the really long and awesome track, "Gumbo Variations". But that's not what I'm posting. Like I said, it's too long (16:57 to be exact).

Awesome landmark prog-rock album from the 70s. It's only five tracks, but you really get a little bit of everything. I've posted the opening track. It's probably the most accessible track on the record and plus it has some really mad saxophone parts.
Glitchy electronic influenced post-rock. Not sure what more to say. It has its moments.
Yet another great, yet somewhat forgotten 80s punk/alternative rock act. Husker Du began as a straight up hardcore punk band similar to that of Black Flag and other SST bands, but differentiated themselves by focusing more on melody, which eventually helped shape alternative college rock. New Day Rising is arguably their best album (but check out all of them if you can, especially Zen Arcade) and showcases the bands transition from blistering punk to upbeat melodic alternative rock.
