“Top 11 Artists to Watch in 2011... Speaking of The Black Keys, Hanni El Khatib is the next garage-rock sensation on the verge.” - BOSTON GLOBE
“I cannot wait for Will The Guns Come Out—this is going to be one of the best records of 2011, guaranteed.”
- L.A. RECORD
“Hard to believe that only one man can pack this much heat.” - NYLON
“Hanni El-Khatib is one of the most talented acts in L.A. right now, a one-man band, singing, songwriting, and producing all on his own and synthesizing 50s and 60s garage rock, soul, blues, and even a bit of folk... and brings with him the rawness of Phil Spector, Jack White, the Shangri-Las, and the Black Keys.” - LA WEEKLY

Wow. In One Wind is definitely the band from this semester's line-up of Live Shows that I absolutely couldn't stop listening to afterward- for about a week after the show, I was playing their new album How Bright A Shadow on repeat.
In One Wind's style is incredibly hard to define in the usual "genre" terms, because not only do they draw from an incredibly wide pool of styles and genres, but they also transcend these influences to create something truly original. The lyrics are very story-based, which gives the band an almost storybook-ish fairytale feeling.
Their music is smart, percussive, and extremely dynamic. It has key and time signature shifts like crazy. Their technical proficiency is obvious, and it gives them the ability to experiment successfully. These talented musicians bring together a knack for catchy pop rhythms and a drive for creativity to make something original, genuine, and catchy- a rare combination.
This is definitely another band to keep your eyes on, I can't wait to see what they come out with next.
